Elda Mae Taravella passed away on Friday, April 12, 2024 at the age of 88. Beloved wife of the late Ray Joseph Taravella. Mother of Raye Jean Leastman (Daniel) of New Jersey, and the late Arnell Mary Taravella. Grandmother of Christopher Mastrangelo (Allyson) and Michael Mastrangelo, and great grandmother of Audriana and Emma Mastrangelo of New Jersey. Elda Mae enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and great grandchildren, traveling, and periodic visits to the casinos. She was a native of New Orleans and a longtime resident of Marrero, and subsequently Randolph and Denville, New Jersey. After retiring from the Jefferson Parish Public School System, Elda Mae relocated to New Jersey to spend time with her family and subsequently decided to work again. She was employed part time for more than 20 years with Oak Knoll School in Summit, New Jersey. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Graveside Service on Saturday, April 20, 2024 at 11:00 a.m. at  Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetary, Gretna, LA. In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital preferred.
