Elaine Morlas "Moo" Ory

Elaine Morlas Ory, affectionately known as Moo, passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 22, 2026, at the age of 98. She was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, on May 25, 1927, to the late Caroline and Bertrand Morlas.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Thomas J. Ory, Sr., her son, Thomas J. Ory, Jr., and her brother, Whitmel F. Morlas (Madeline).

Elaine is survived by her daughter, Nancy O. Byrd (Mark), her grandchildren, Michael W. Byrd (Stacie), Lindsey O. Morris (Conrad), Jason M. Byrd (Heydi), and Thomas J. Ory, III, and her sisters, Marilyn L. Morlas and Jeannette M. Holliman (Doyle). She is also survived by eleven great-grandchildren, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She retired from the Jefferson Parish School Board, where she worked as a school secretary. She was a devoted member of JPCGC for more than 50 years, alongside her best friend, Helen D. Levy.

The family wishes to express their heartfelt gratitude to her angels, Cheryl “Freida” Jones and Sandra “Grandmaw” Simmons, and their families, for their love and dedication during Elaine’s final years. A special thank you is also extended to Heart of Hospice.

Family and friends are invited to attend the Visitation at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 7040 Lapalco Blvd., Marrero, Louisiana on Thursday, January 29, 2026 from 9:30AM until 11AM. A Funeral Service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday at 11AM. Interment will be in Our Lady of Prompt Succor Church Cemetery, Westwego, Louisiana.

In lieu of flowers, Masses would be appreciated.
