Eddie Lestrick – a devoted brother, uncle, cousin, and friend – departed this life and transitioned to his eternal reward on Tuesday, May 9, 2017 at 4:30 pm at the age of 71. Eddie was born on April 22, 1946 the second eldest of ten children to the late Eddie Lestrick Jr. and the late Elizabeth C. J. Walker. He was born in New Orleans, but moved and became a longtime resident of Marrero, Louisiana. His career in bricklaying and the construction field spanned over forty years. He was also employed with Matrana’s Produce, Inc. and later retired due to illness. Eddie loved his mother, father, and siblings. He loved his nephews, nieces, cousins, and friends. He never met a stranger. He loved cooking wild game, rabbit and deer being top on the list. Eddie will always be remembered as a well groomed man, wearing his “ironed and starched” clothing and riding his bicycle singing “Stormy Monday” by Bobby Blue Bland. He was affectionately called “Popoose”. Eddie kept his love of God, his family, and fellowman as his daily agenda until the very end. He is preceded in death by his loving parents Eddie Lestrick Jr. and Elizabeth C. J. Walker, brothers George and Ernest. He leaves to cherish his memories siblings: Virginia L. Randolph, Albert Walker (Dannette) of Houston, TX, Brenda Walker Williams (Leonard), Glenda Walker Hall (Kalton), Melvin Walker (Brenda) of Blythe, CA, Celestine Walker, Eric L. Walker Sr. (Faynette), and Evalina Lestrick. He is survived by a host of nephews, nieces, cousins, and other relatives and friends. Eddie touched numerous lives with his genuine caring spirit, outgoing personality, and captivating laughter. He fought with courage and faith. He will always be loved, remembered, and greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. Family, relatives, and friends are invited to attend Visitation at the Chapel at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 7040 Lapalco Blvd., Marrero, LA. on Sunday, May 21, 2017 from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm and Monday, May 22, 2017 from 8:00 am to 10:00 am.
