Earl L. Sevier, Jr. of Baton Rouge, LA passed away on Tuesday, March 21, 2017 at St. Anthony’s Healthcare and Rehab in Metairie, LA. He was 77. Earl was born on September 10, 1939 in Plaquemine, LA. He attended Plaquemine High School and Nicholls State University. In 1964, he married Mary G. Chidester and together had four children, Frank, Darren, Shawn and Tammy. They later divorced and he met his longtime companion, Ilse Hunter. Earl served in the United States Marine Corps and retired from the Louisiana DOTD. After retirement, he continued to work as a surveyor/inspector in Baton Rouge. He loved spending time with his family, collecting, gambling, spending time on his computer and photography. Most of his life was lived in the New Orleans area and Baton Rouge. Earl was preceded in death by his parents, Earl L. Sevier, Sr. and Bernice Dugas Sevier and his brother Wayne Sevier. Earl is survived by his former wife, Mary G. Chidester and companion Ilse Hunter; his children, Frank C. Sevier (Kim), Darren D. Sevier, Shawn J. Sevier, Sr. (Carolina) and Tammy G. Hoorman (Stephen); sisters, Brenda, Sheila, and Darlene Sevier; Grandchildren, Melissa, Jordan, Shawn, Stephen, Ethan, Blair and Travis. Earl is also survived by a host of nieces and nephews. Family and friends are invited to attend the Memorial Visitation at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 7040 Lapalco Blvd., Marrero, LA on Saturday, April 1, 2017 from 10AM until 1PM. A Memorial Mass will be held at the funeral home on Saturday at 1PM. Interment will be privately held at a later date.
