Dorothy "Dotti" Vanette Hodge-Guidry

Dorothy “Dotti” Hodge-Guidry entered into eternal peace on Wednesday, April 10, 2024, after a courageous battle with lung cancer.  She was 63 years old and was born on February 24, 1961 in New Orleans, Louisiana.

She graduated a year early from John Ehret High School in 1978 and attended Barbizon Modeling School. She earned the title Miss Hot Legs in 1977, but taking over the Westbank with brains and beauty was easy. Dotti needed more. She became a certified scuba diver and spent many years cruising around the world, diving in the coral reef with electric eels and working as a gift shop manager. After returning from the seas, Dotti worked as a property manager in Jefferson Parish.

She is preceded in death by her beloved husband and soul mate, Gerald “Sam” Guidry, Jr. (d.2022). She is the daughter of the late Robert Theodore Hodge, Jr. and Cleta Mae Rooney Hodge. She leaves behind her only sister, best friends, and caregivers, Victoria (Vicki) Ann Hodge-Ladner (Kevin), Lou Burns Ramirez (Greg), Karla Crenshaw, Terri Ditta and Katie Floyd (Kevin) whose selfless love and devotion carried her when she needed it most. She leaves to mourn, her only niece Jennifer Acree (Jason), her great nephew and niece, Ethan and Natalie. She is also survived by a host of loved ones including countless other family members and friends who loved her dearly.

Dotti was passionate about life. She lived everyday to its fullest and wanted to experience as much life as possible! She loved to travel and she loved a tchotchke! Her refrigerator is full of magnets and her cabinet full of shot glasses from all the places she has been.  Every year Dotti planned a trip to her favorite place, the beach, with her family and friends. She absolutely loved sitting on the beach, drinking a vodka and cranberry while reading the newest Danielle Steele novel.

Nothing meant more to Dotti than family.  She went above and beyond to make memories that Ethan and Natalie would never forget. She planted jelly beans that magically turned into candy at Easter and made reindeer food for Christmas. She had an extremely close bond with her sister, Vicki. They were not only sisters, but best friends and each other’s lifeline. She loved to dance with Lou (shoo shoo) and run the pool tables for hours with Karla. To say that Dotti will be missed is a massive understatement. Our lives will never be the same without her beautiful soul here with us.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend the funeral service on Wednesday, April 17, 2024, at Mothe Funeral Home, 2200 Westbank Expressway, Harvey, LA. The visitation will begin at 9:30 am.
