Dorothy Lucille Cheron, age 86, of Harvey, Louisiana, passed away on Sunday, January 15, 2017. She was born to the late Leland and Lucille Langridge on February 24, 1930. Dorothy is preceded in death by her parents, beloved husband, Achille Philip “Phil” Cheron, Jr., and beloved brothers Leland and Alan Langridge. Dorothy is survived by her sister, Phyllis Fricks, her 4 children, Achille P. Cheron III, Emily (Phillip) Kenline, Edward Cheron, and Patricia Cheron, and 7 grandchildren, Eric, Kim, and Marcus Kenline, and Brandon, Brennen, Brice, and Caden Cheron.
Dorothy attended grade school in New Orleans and Byrd High School in Shreveport, LA. She attended Northwestern State College in Natchitoches, LA, where she graduated with a BA in English and met her devoted husband, Phil Cheron. She was a loving wife and active member in the community, volunteering to work at several school and Parish libraries. After raising her 4 children, Dorothy returned to school and completed a BA degree in Library Sciences from Holy Cross College and then worked for the Jefferson Parish Public School system as a teacher and librarian. Dorothy was dedicated to education and devoted her life to helping and teaching others. She will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Visitation on Saturday, January 21, 2017 from 10:00 AM until 1:30 AM at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 2100 Westbank Expressway, Harvey, LA. The Catholic Funeral Mass will follow at 1:30 PM in the Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will immediately follow at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Gretna, LA.
