Donald “Greg” Hardin was born on May 22, 1964 in Chicopee Falls, Massachusetts, to the late William Donald Hardin and Julia Ray Hardin.
Life partner to Maria J. Hardin. Loving father of Shannon A. Hardin and Stephanie L. Hardin. Beloved grandfather of Kashton and Kaisley. Youngest brother of Steve, Tony, and Jeff Hardin. Greg is also survived by many nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.
Greg attended West Jefferson High School in Harvey, LA. In his early years he worked offshore with his father. Thereafter he welcomed opportunity in Pensacola, FL where he worked and built his first home. During his time in Pensacola, Greg loved to be out on the water. Each weekend he would take a boat out and enjoyed every minute. In his spare time, he enjoyed boating, shooting pool, barbecuing, playing music, and watching his favorite shows.
A few years later, Greg moved back to New Orleans to manage a local mechanic shop where he worked for 26 years. Greg’s work ethic was unmatched. He made friends with nearly anyone he came across. Greg had a giving heart, and helped as many people as he could.
In February 2022, Greg was diagnosed with a rare aggressive cancer. Greg never lost hope, or his warm sense of humor. On June 23, 2022, Greg succumbed to his illness. He will be deeply missed by all.
Relatives and Friends of the Family are invited to attend the Celebration of Greg’s Life at Mothe Funeral Home, 7040 Lapalco Blvd, Marrero, LA on Sunday, July 10, 2022 from 11 AM with a Funeral Service in the Chapel to follow at 1 PM.
