Dolores Barrios Guidry, a loving and faithful servant, was called home to be with the Lord on August 5, 2024. At age 89, she passed away peacefully at her home in Marrero.
A native and lifelong resident of Marrero, LA, Dolores was born on January 23, 1935, to the late Lucille Rodrigue Barrios and the late Eli Joseph Barrios. She was the loving wife of Alcide G. Guidry for 71 years and mother of Paris Chiasson (Jerry), Glenn Guidry (Sandy) (the late Rhonda Hughes Guidry), and Rhonda G. Byerly. Grandmother of Jamie Lee Chiasson, Jill Chiasson Cantrelle, the late Jared Lee Guidry, Casie Guidry Hope, Courtney Guidry Robeaux. Great-grandmother of Kassidy Cantrelle, Kelsey Cantrelle, Camden Cantrelle, Cadence Hope, Josiah Hope, Addison Hope, Davey Robeaux, and Chloe Robeaux. Sister of the late Pearl B. Richoux, the late Sylvia B. Breaux, the late Alvin Barrios, the late Norman Barrios, the late Betty B. Trepanier, and Joan B. Maenza; Joshua Shaw, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and family members.
Dolores was the owner of La Maison Creole for 40 years. She also had a presence in many organizations throughout her life including: Les Dames de Timberlane, Golden Ages, Women’s Aglow, Operation Christmas Child, Teen Challenge, West Jefferson Cancer Society, Alpha Phi Sorority, Open Door Ministry, Locks of Love, Young Life, and the Community Center for Life in Gretna. She was a proud member of the Cornerstone Christian Center where she participated in the choir.
The family would like to give a heartfelt appreciation to Mrs. Frances Autry and Pastor Jason Carroll from the Cornerstone Christian Center for their spiritual support to Dolores over the years. A special thanks to her care givers Kitty, Denise, Felix, Mary and the Hospice Specialist of Louisiana.
Friends and family are invited to attend a funeral service on Saturday, August 10, 2024, at 1:30PM at the Cornerstone Community Center, 6550 Lapalco Blvd., in Marrero. Visitation will begin at 11:30AM. Interment will follow immediately at Westlawn Memorial Park, 1225 Whitney Ave., in Gretna. In lieu of flowers please consider donations to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital and/or the Community Center for Life at: westbankpregnancy.org/support.
