Diane Mary Evans

Diane Mary Evans passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 23, 2025 at 5:17 a.m. at the age of 87. She was born in McDonoghville, Louisiana on May 15, 1936 to the late Frank and Lonie Evans. She is survived by her siblings, Sally Church, Frank Evans (Maureen), Michael Evans (Rachel), and Nancy Evans. She leaves behind 32 cherished nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews, and great great nephews as well as numerous cousins and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Frank and Lonie Evans, her great nephew, Eli Sims, and her brother-in-law, Dean Church.

Diane was a member of West Jefferson High School’s first graduating class in 1956, and celebrated with her first class friends throughout her life. After receiving her Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from Tulane University, she participated in additional graduate programs at Georgetown University, St. Thomas University and Louisiana State University. She was a licensed counselor and marriage and family therapist.

She worked for fifty-three years teaching and counseling students at both public and private schools in Jefferson Parish, including West Jefferson, Higgins, Archbishop Blenk and Academy of Our Lady High Schools. Diane was also a talented artist, an amazing food connoisseur and a beloved “Fairy Godmother” to all of her nieces and nephews. She was a member of Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority and a parishioner of Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.

A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 4401 Seventh Street Marrero, LA 70072 on Tuesday, September 2, 2025, with visitation beginning at 9 a.m. Interment will take place at Lake Lawn Metairie Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, Diane’s family requests masses or donations to Shriners’ Hospital for Children c/o Donor Relations, 2900 N. Rocky Point Drive, Tampa, Florida 33607 in Diane’s memory.
