Derrick Thomas Fremen, Sr.

Derrick Thomas Fremen, Sr., passed away unexpectedly on Friday, July 3, 2026, at the age of 54. Derrick is survived by his mother, Diane Gauthier Fremen, his son, Derrick Thomas Fremen Jr., and daughter, Hannah Fremen Smith. His grandchildren, Brody Fremen and Addison Fremen, his four sisters, Lee Ann Fremen Arnoult (husband, Jon Paul), Janine Fremen (husband, Mike Dauzat), Natalie Fremen Goff (husband, Garrett) and Candy Fremen Rush (husband, David). He is also survived by five nephews, Brandon Ivey, Gavin and Garrett Dinicola, Caleb and Noah Goff and two nieces, Brittany Shields O’Neal and Baylee Shields. He is predeceased by his father Leroy Thomas Fremen.

Derrick was born in Jefferson, Louisiana on April 21, 1972. An entrepreneur at heart, he successfully owned and operated a flooring company before following his passion for the water and earning his Merchant Mariner’s Captain and Masters of Towing licenses, allowing him to fulfill his life-long dream of becoming a tugboat captain. He was passionate about his faith and all things water; boating, fishing and hunting and as an avid Saints and LSU football fan. He was a loving father, grandfather, son, brother, uncle and friend. He will be deeply missed by his family, friends, and all who knew him.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of his life service on Saturday, August 1, 2026, at One Accord Ministries at 713 S. Jamie Blvd. in Avondale, Louisiana from 3 to 6 PM.
