Derald (Darel) Raymond Guillory, was born in March, 1938, in Reddell, Louisiana. He passed away peacefully on December 4, 2024, in New Orleans, Louisiana, surrounded by his loving family after a lengthy illness. Derald’s life was marked by a distinguished career and a vibrant personality, leaving indelible memories for all who knew him.

Derald was an accomplished welder and fitter, recognized for his exceptional skills first with JM McDermott and later with several major companies in the shipbuilding and oil and gas industries. His work took him around the globe, including notable stints in Scotland and Africa. His technical expertise was complemented by certifications in welding, ASE Auto Repair, and HVAC.

 As a young man, Derald served proudly in the United States Marines during the Korean War. He maintained a strong connection with his fellow veterans, visiting local VFW and American Legion halls, where he enjoyed sharing stories and camaraderie.

Known for his charming and fun-loving nature, Derald had a gift for making people feel comfortable and welcomed. He cherished socializing and was a naturally gifted dancer, often found on the dance floor enjoying the company of the ladies eagerly awaiting their turn to cut loose with him. Derald’s engaging personality allowed him to connect with almost anyone, as he never met a stranger. His conversations could last for hours, reflecting his genuine interest in others and deep appreciation for life.

Derald's love and devotion to his family were evident throughout his life. He is survived by his daughter, Stephanie Kall, son, Mark Guillory, step-daughter Debra Harper, stepsons Jimmy, David and Michael Lopez, and Connie Hodge, and his cousin Roderick Granger. He was a proud grandfather to Taylor Kall, Arlyn Guillory, and Kullyn Guillory, who will forever carry his legacy in their hearts.

Derald is preceded in death by his father, Ferdinand Guillory, and mother, Attile Guillory. He was also predeceased by his son, David Guillory; stepson, Johnny Lopez; second wife, Lillie Guillory; first wife, Annie Guillory; siblings, Eloise Juneau, Georgia Guillory, and Virgie Picou; and cousin Ella Marie Granger.

Visitation will be held at Marrero - Mothe Funeral Homes, LLC, located at 7040 Lapalco Blvd, Marrero, LA, on December 7, 2024, from 11:00 AM to 1:30 PM, followed by a funeral service from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM. Derald will be laid to rest at New St Ann Cemetery in Mamou, LA, on December 9, 2024, at 1:30 PM.

His remarkable journey and the light he brought to so many will be remembered fondly. Derald’s adventurous spirit, warmth, and laughter will continue to resonate in the hearts of his family and friends.
