Debbie McInerney Solis, 73, native of New Orleans, passed away on August 8, 2022. Debbie was born to the late Alexander Daniel McInerney and Mary Cecile (Dolly) Popich Merwin, February 6, 1949, in New Orleans. She married David August Solis in March of 1969, and they lived together in Port Sulphur until August of 2005, when they lost their home to hurricane Katrina and relocated to Jennings, LA. Debbie is survived by her husband and three children: Daniel W. Solis (Kristy Walgamotte), of Meraux; Donna Solis Bonin (John), of Jennings; and Donovan D. Solis (Danielle Darby), of Lafayette. She is also survived by 11 grandchildren: Eden Bonin, Jude Bonin, Graceanne Bonin, Isabella Bonin, Adrian Bonin, Dominic Bonin, Sophia Solis, Grant Bonin, Malakai Solis, Maddox Solis, and Karissa Solis; one great-grandchild: Elio Bonin; and her sister: Mary Ann McInerney Michel-Courson. Debbie is predeceased by her grand parents: John A. and Celina Frelich Popich, her parents and siblings: John G. McInerney, Michael P. McInerney, Jude D. McInerney, and Anthony F. Merwin. Debbie loved and lived for her family and she took immense joy in helping others. She was famously known in the Plaquemines Parish area and among family and friends for her incredible skills in baking and cooking. All dishes, made with her love, are still a legacy among those who were privileged to enjoy them. Debbie loved her grandchildren and enjoyed watching them grow and seeing their accomplishments. Family and friends are invited to attend a Traditional Catholic Funeral Mass, officiated by Father Stephen Lefort in the chapel of Mothe Funeral Home, 2100 Westbank Expwy., Harvey, LA, on Saturday, August 20, 2022 at 11am. Visitation will be held Friday evening August 19, 2022 from 6pm until 8pm with a Rosary recitation at 7pm. Visitation continues on Saturday morning from 9am until 11am at the funeral home. Interment, St Patrick’s Catholic Cemetery in Port Sulphur, at 28698 Highway 23. Reception following at the St. Patrick’s Family Life Center.
