Debbie Labit Gros

Debbie Labit Gros returned to heaven on January 2, 2023, from West Jefferson Hospital in Marrero, surrounded by her loving family. Debbie was a resident of the Westbank for over 55 years. She was born in Houma, Louisiana on June 21, 1956, to the late Raymond and Maudery (Mae) Labit; sister of the late Larry and Ray Labit. Debbie was married to her loving husband of nearly 40 years, Jessie N. Gros III. She was the loving mother to her two children Brittney Gros Wylie (Carlos) and Jessie (Jay) Gros IV (Rebecca), and grandmother of Anderson Bellanger. She is also survived by her father-in-law, Jessie N. Gros Jr. and her two sisters-in-law, Vickie Gros and Pattie Gros Harris, along with her niece and nephew, Jeanne-Marie and Donovan Harris. Additionally, she is survived by her uncle, Norbert Labit and aunt, Betty Labit Mercer, along with numerous cousins from the Labit and Scott families in New Orleans, the Westbank, North Shore, Houma, Thibodeaux, and around the country. She was preceded in death by many loving family members who, we pray, are welcoming her with open arms to life everlasting with God in heaven. Debbie was a graduate of Archbishop Blenk High School in Gretna and the University of New Orleans. She spent most of her working life in the oil and gas service industry, where she was the comptroller of Communications Services of Louisiana and in accounting for Deltide Fishing and Rental Tools, Inc. Debbie was the former President of the De La Salle High School Parents Club. She was historically involved in many non-profit organizations including USVSD, Louisiana Southernairs Drum and Bugle Corps, and as a member of the Desk & Derrick Club of the Westbank. Spending time with her family and building Legos with her grandson was one of Debbie’s favorite things to do. Debbie was known for her kindness to everyone she met, and her memory will live on in the hearts of family and friends forever. Relatives and friends of Debbie and her family are invited to attend the visitation at Mothe Funeral Home, 2100 Westbank Expwy., Harvey, LA on Thursday, January 12, 2023, at 10:30am for family and 11:30am for friends until the Funeral Mass at 1:30pm.
