Darlene Marie Lindner

Dec 7, 1953 — Jun 25, 2026

Belle Chasse

Darlene Marie Lindner passed away peacefully on Thursday, June 25, 2026, at the age of 72. She was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, on December 7, 1953 to Amelia and the late James Sheasby.

She was the wife of Terry Reyes, and they had two children together: Terry Reyes Lindner (the late Linda), and Troy Reyes Lindner (Heather). She later married Gene Lindner, who she stumbled upon by accident when she ran into his mail truck while he was working for the Post Office. He asked her for coffee, and the two fell deeply in love, marrying in May of 1980. She gained 4 children: Craig Lindner (Linda), Denise Nunez (Arthur), David Lindner (Ivy), and Jeanine Lindner (Tex). Darlene is the grandmother of Emily Hartzog (Leland), Kemp Hartzog (Victoria), Saige Nunez, Mackensie Harris (Deaton), Tyler Lindner, Noah Lindner (Alyssa), Skylar Lindner, Celeste, and Chelsea; and great-grandmother of Eloise Harris, Baker Harris, Levi Hartzog, Wyatt Hartzog, and Elena Darlene Lindner. She is also survived by her siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins, and wonderful lifelong friends.

Darlene started as a Key Punch Data Reporter for IOSA, and worked her way up the corporate ladder in the Oil and Gas Industry as she became the first woman Oil Scout employed by Amoco. She was a native of New Orleans, Louisiana, and proud resident of Belle Chasse where she built her dream home with her love in 1982. She shared her home with countless friends, family, and strangers along the years. Darlene was deeply devoted to her faith, family, and career. Over the 45 year span of her Oil and Gas career, she developed a database system that saved her company hundreds of thousands of dollars. She shared bits of her craft with her husband such as visits to drill sites, helicopter rides, and collecting samples.

Darlene was loving, compassionate, intelligent, and most of all a very caring person to anyone she met. Her presence was pure warmth and comfort. She enjoyed all outdoor activities, boating, swimming and most of all spending time riding horses. She and Gene were members of the Lost and Found Riding Group where she shared many memories with friends and family. She made time to travel the world and share some beautiful travels with the ones who loved her most.  Gene especially valued their time riding cross-country on their motorcycles- the adventures they had created beautiful memories.  Darlene was dedicated to her faith, and was a Eucharistic Minister. She shared many experiences with her friend groups “The Tuesday Girls” and “The Honeys” which were friends that go back to her childhood. Darlene was unique and irreplaceable, well respected and liked, and will be deeply and dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Her spirit and tender nature will remain in the many memories of her cherished friends and family until they meet her again.

The family expresses their deepest gratitude to the outstanding care provided by Compassus Hospice.
