Danielle Brooke Fabro

October 6, 2014 — February 6, 2024

Danielle Brooke Fabro, age 9, of Gretna, Louisiana, passed away on February 6, 2024, at 12:12 p.m., surrounded by her family, after a nearly two-year battle with leukemia.

Danielle was born on October 6, 2014, to Vincent Fabro, Sr., and Dawn Foret Fabro in New Orleans, Louisiana. She was the youngest of four children.

Danielle is survived by her devoted parents, Vincent Fabro, Sr., and Dawn Foret Fabro; her cherished big sister, Devanie Fabro; her doting big brothers, Alex and Vincent, Jr., her grandparents, Margie Barfield Fabro, Robert R. Foret, Jr. and Leo Fabro. She is also survived by her aunts and uncles, Michael and Katie Fabro of Lufkin, Texas and Chris and Amanda Hoke, of Luling, Louisiana, cousins Ashley and Cole Fabro, Cohen Hoke and Ellie Fabro. She is also survived by a multitude of extended family members. There were hundreds upon thousands of people following her journey, praying for her, and cheering her on.

Danielle was in the 3rd grade prior to being hospitalized at St. Cletus Catholic School in Gretna, Louisiana. She had a genuine love for animals, loved to craft and play with her slime. Her favorite times were all our family vacations together and just hanging at home with family and friends. She immensely loved to go fishing and crabbing anytime! She also loved to attend church and had such a “pure” love and closeness to God. She really was wise beyond her years. She also had a great love and admiration for her beloved and favorite Christian group, For King & Country. She just loved everything about being close to God, and their example of being Christlike was so obvious to her. Their music also brought us closer together as a family, with God at the helm. We were blessed to attend a number of their concerts together and that was always what she would play on the radio just riding around.

She has waged a courageous and inspirational battle against leukemia since March 2022. She defied the odds countless times and amazed the hospital staff with her upbeat optimism and her willingness to actively participate in her medical care and procedures. She didn’t miss a thing; she was so full of wisdom that could only have been given by God. Her ability to light up a room and have such an effect on so many people, whom most had never even met, was truly remarkable and divine. She really was a little angel on earth and now rests in heaven, wrapped in the loving arms of God the Father. We are so honored and grateful to have been entrusted for the wonderful 9 years while she was here with us. We look forward to eternity because we will one day be reunited with her.

Our family wishes to thank Childrens Hospital of New Orleans and the staff, as well as the Oncologist Group at M.D. Anderson: Dr. Karen Moody and her entire supportive care team; Dr. Cesar Nunez, Dr. Branko Cuglievan, Dr. David McCall, Dr. Miriam Garcia, and Dr. Amber Gibson; Pediatrics, Dr. Rachna Sheth, P.A. Samantha Dickson, P.I.C.U. Team; and many, many, very special nurses, child life and music/art therapists, and the rest of the all-around amazing staff on G9 at M.D. Anderson Cancer Hospital, Houston, Texas.
