Daniel Emile Anthaume Sr.
November 5, 1948 — July 3, 2017
Emile Anthaume (Daniel Emile Anthaume Sr.) of Belle Chasse, LA passed away on July 3, 2017 surrounded by his family. Emile was born on November 5, 1948 in Bogalusa, LA to the late Octave Emile Anthaume Jr. and Tera Tynes Anthaume.
He married Barbara Jean Strahan in 1969 and shortly afterward, was drafted into the U.S. Army. He served basic training at Fort Polk, LA where he entertained fellow troops playing trumpet. An officer heard him play and recommended him for the Army Band. He was assigned to the 493rd Army Band stationed at Fort Gordon, GA. While at Fort Gordon, he travelled throughout the Southeastern United States with the Band, playing TAPS for funeral honors of fallen soldiers killed in Vietnam and for U.S. Army veterans.
After his discharge, from the Army, he and Barbara moved to Gretna and then to Belle Chasse where they have lived for 25 years.
Emile was an employee of ABB-Vetco Gray, an oilfield parts and service company in Harvey and retired after 32 years of service.
Emile enjoyed living in southern Louisiana where he was able to get out on the water and fish and shrimp. He taught his children to fish at an early age because of his love for the outdoors.
He was an outstanding cook and loved to prepare dishes for family and friends. His most memorable dishes were fried seafood, redfish courtboullion and fried hushpuppies.
Emile is survived by his wife, Barbara and their two children, Daniel Emile Anthaume Jr. (wife Gina) and Angela Anthaume Taylor (husband Clay). He is Grandpa to Aidan and Emma Anthaume. He is a member of First Baptist Church of Belle Chasse.
The Anthaume family would like to thank the doctors and staff of University Medical Center for their excellent care given to their beloved Emile. A special thanks is given to Rucker who showed care and compassion to both Emile and Barbara.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation at MOTHE FUNERAL HOMES, 2100 Westbank Expy., Harvey, LA on Saturday, July 8, 2017 from 9 AM to 11 AM. Services will follow in the funeral home chapel. Interment Westlawn Memorial Park.
