Cynthia Marie Matherne

Cynthia Marie Matherne, born on December 2, 1939, passed away peacefully on May 19, 2026 at the age of 86. A resident of Harvey, Louisiana and a devout Catholic, Cynthia lived a life marked by faith, dedication, and grace.

A proud graduate of West Jefferson High School’s Class of 1957, Cynthia carried the values and lessons of her youth into every chapter of her life. Her enduring faith was a cornerstone of her existence, guiding her through both joyous and challenging times.

Cynthia was the beloved sister of Barbara Hall and brother of Seymour Matherne (Darlene); loving aunt to the late Darre Hall, late Kemp Hall, Pepper Hall (Eileen), Doug Hall (Michelle), Mike Matherne (Joleen), Chris Matherne (Jenifer), and a host of other nieces and nephews. 

In lieu of flowers, please consider donating to Cynthia's favorite charity, St. Jude. 

Friends and family will come together to honor Cynthia’s memory with a visitation on May 26, 2026, from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. at St Joseph Catholic Church in Gretna, Louisiana. Following the visitation, a Mass will be held at 11:00 a.m. at the same location. The interment service will commence at a later date at Westlawn.
