Clare Vernon Rodriguez

Clare Vernon Rodriguez passed away into the loving arms of our Father in Heaven on Sunday, May 14, 2017. There she will meet her parents, the late Joseph Rodriguez and Teresa Grentz Rodriguez. Sister of Helen Rodriguez Carpenter (late A.J. Carpenter Jr.) and the late Forrest Rodriguez and Virgil Rodriguez (Nathalie Richard Rodriguez). She leaves many cherished memories to all of her nieces, nephews, and their families. Age 91 years and lifelong resident of Gretna, LA.
Clare graduated from Loyola University of New Orleans as a medical technician. Her academic performance showed such promise that the college actively pursued her to become a teacher. Though very honored, she chose to move forward with her career in public health and hospitals, becoming the Supervisor of medical technicians. She received many awards and honors through her professional career. Upon retirement, Clare became the family caretaker. She enjoyed traveling and her membership with the German-American Cultural Center in Gretna.
She was a faithful parishioner of St. Anthony Catholic Church in Gretna where she participated actively and was a Eucharistic Minister, as well as honored recipient of the Order of St. Louis medal. She will be deeply missed by all and remembered for her caring and giving spirit.
Relatives and Friends of the Family are invited to attend the Funeral Mass at St. Anthony Catholic Church, Gretna, LA on Friday, May 19, 2017 at 11 AM. Interment McDonoghville Cemetery, Gretna, LA. Visitation will be held at church from 10 AM until 11 AM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Children's Hospital of New Orleans or St. Jude Children's Research Hospital.
