Marcell Raymond Rodriguez passed away Monday, June 29, 2026 at the age of 75. He is being reunited with his high school sweetheart and the love of his life his late wife of 53 years Vanessa Rodriguez. Father of Christian Rodriguez and daughter in law Natie Rodriguez. Paw Paw of grandson Chance Rodriguez. Bonus Paw Paw of step-grandchildren Victoria and Miguel Wilches and Destiney Mamolo. Brother of Danielle Rodriguez and Russell Rodriguez Jr. Brother in law of Judith Rodriguez. Proceed in death by his parents Ellen and Russell Rodriguez Sr., his sister Patti DeNicola, and his brother also best friend Allen Rodriguez.

Marcell was a lifelong resident of Jefferson Parish having grown up in Marrero then building a wonderful family life in a personally hand built house on the bayou in Lafitte, LA before returning to Marrero, LA. Marcell attended West Jefferson High School in Harvey, LA and was known for being a great running back there. He is a Vietnam Army Veteran, retired Jefferson Parish police deputy, and was the current Lafitte Police Chief for the past 15 years upon his passing. Marcell was a man of compassion in the position as chief and took great pride in helping his community. When Marcell took the position of chief he went in the role whole heartedly to reduce crime and clean up the drug issues in his loved community. Marcell was there any time someone in his beloved town needed any type of help no matter day or night. Marcell took pride in being a cell phone call away for any one that needed him in any capacity whether handing out donations, bringing food to those who were in need or just being there to take that call for someone needing advice or a listening ear for personal struggles.

Marcell was a true believer in God’s love and a devoted man to the power of prayer. He loved to read the bible and hold bible discussions with an open invitation to all. He never met a stranger, loved to talk, and of course pray with you and for goodness in the world. He loved long walks in nature, views of our area wildlife, and the serenity of our beautiful national parks.

Marcell’s biggest role and pride in his life was being husband to Vanessa and the family life they built together over their 53 years of marriage. Their long marriage was one of unconditional love, devotion, loyalty, and priceless memories. When Vanessa passed before him Marcell was lost, heartbroken, and he missed her dearly. He can now take comfort that their love is reunited for eternity together. Marcell as a father to Chris shined as a provider with unwavering support, pride, love but most of all his protector. He instilled work ethic and the motto “don’t feel sorry for yourself” into his son with guidance. Marcell is Chris’ first and true hero. His grandson Chance was one of the greatest loves of his life, he loved him unconditionally with his whole heart and was proud of him in every way.

Chris and family would like to thank everyone that prayed and took amazing care of his father during the brief sudden illness that took him away from us. We are grateful for all the meaningful messages and expressions of admiration for his life of service and devotion to community. Thank you for the bottom of our hearts.

In lieu of flowers, please pay it forward in the name of Marcell Rodriguez. Do a good deed that is rooted in kindness, love, and God to let Marcell’s spirit live on.
