Cheryl Lopez Balestra

Cheryl Lopez Balestra entered into eternal rest to be with our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, December 25, 2022. She was 66 years old. She was surrounded by her loving family. Beloved wife and best friend of John Balestra for 34 years. Devoted and loving mother of Rickie Eslick, Jr. (Monica), Roy Eslick, and Amber Balestra Fell (Brett). Daughter of the late Dave and Helen Dufrene Lopez. She was the cherished sister of Larry Lopez (Debbie), Glenn Lopez (the late Jacqueline “Tuddy”), and sister in law of Christaine Brandt (James). She was the adoring Gammy to Gracie and Hunter Eslick, and Lane Hardy, and the treasured Nana to Lily and Logan Fell. She will be greatly missed by her many Godchildren, nephews, nieces, and numerous friends. Cheryl was loved by everyone who knew her. Her generous and sweet heart was a blessing to all. She will be remembered for her smile, patience, and wisdom.
Relatives, friends of the family, along with employees of Witco Chemical Company, MBS services, and ACME truck line are invited to attend a Service at Mothe Funeral Home, 2100 Westbank Expy, Harvey, LA on Friday, December 30, 2022 at 11:00 am. Visitation will be held from 8:30 am until service time. Interment will follow at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Gretna, LA. The family would like to thank all who visited, prayed for, and loved her. She cherished her faith, family and friends. She was a true example of how to be an angel on Earth. Her memory and presence will forever be felt by all who knew her. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to be made in Cheryl’s name to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or Children’s Hospital of New Orleans.
