Charles Eliot Ruiz Sr

Charles Eliot Ruiz Sr., 60, passed away peacefully on September 8, 2026.

Born on October 25, 1965, in Alexandria, Louisiana, Charles lived most of his life in Marrero, Louisiana. Charles attended Immaculate Conception School and Archbishop Shaw High School before continuing his education at the University of New Orleans, where he earned both his bachelor’s in finance and Master of Business Administration. A dedicated and hardworking professional, Charles tenured nearly 20 years with Regions Bank, where he served as Senior Vice President of Commercial Appraisals. Outside of work, Charles found his greatest joy in his faith, family, and the simple things of life. He attended annual retreats at Manresa and was a devoted parishioner of Visitation of Our Lady Church. He loved spending time with his family, pulling endless pranks, coaching his daughters in softball, taking his daily walks, watching sports, and following the stock market. Charles never met a stranger and had a special way of making everyone around him feel welcome and at home. Charles is survived by his wife of nearly 26 years, Christine Ruiz; his children, Lindsey Duboue (Juan), William Waltman (Natalie), Charles Ruiz Jr. (Brianna), Catherine Ruiz, and Juliette Ruiz; his grandchildren, Sebastian, Benjamin, and Lakelynn; his father, Andrew Ruiz Jr. (Mary Jane); his brother, Andrew Ruiz III (Shannon); his sisters, Mary Grace (John), Anne Bitterwolf (Mark), and Hope Andras (David); and many beloved nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his mother, Barbara Labbe Ruiz; his paternal grandparents, Andrew Sr. and Irma Ruiz; and his maternal grandparents, Eliot and Margy Labbe. Charles will be remembered for his unwavering devotion to his family, his generous spirit, his deep faith, and the kindness he extended to everyone he met. He was known for his selfless love, kind heart, and playful spirit. That warmth, humor, and love will be deeply missed and forever remembered. The Celebration of Charles’s life will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2026, at Mary Queen of Peace Church, 1501 W Causeway Approach in Mandeville, Louisiana 70471. Public visitation will be held from 10:30 to 11:40 a.m., followed by Words of Remembrance at 11:40 a.m. A Funeral Mass will begin at 12:00 p.m. Interment at Saint Joseph Abbey will immediately follow at 75376 River Rd, St Benedict, LA 70457.
