Charlene Pelas Armstrong, lovingly known as “Chenie” or “Grammy” and of course “Mom” to her sons, passed away on May 29, 2025, at age 75. She was the beloved wife of the late Morrill J. “Murray” Armstrong, cherished mother of Murray Armstrong (Keri), Kevin Armstrong Sr., and Darren Armstrong (Patricia); loving grandmother of Zachary Armstrong, Miranda Armstrong, Kevin Armstrong Jr. (Karsen), Kilie Armstrong, Kade Armstrong, Destiny Armstrong, and Ethan Armstrong; and loving great-grandmother of Kolton Armstrong. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews. Charlene was preceded in death by her brother, Don Pelas, and her parents, Ulice and Gloria Pelas.
Charlene’s family was always her top priority. She took great pride in being a loving wife and mother throughout her 47 years of marriage and continued to do so for the rest of her life. She always called herself a “follow fairy”, as she was always welcomed and enjoyed vacationing with and being around her family as much as possible.
Charlene, with her upbeat personality, had a way of always brightening the day of those around her. Whether you knew her for a moment or a lifetime, you felt her kindness, light and sincerity. She truly was the sweetest, nicest, and kindest lady you could have ever known, and her presence made the world a gentler and nicer place. She had a unique sense of humor, combined with a laugh that was so occasionally hysterical and uncontrollable it was contagious. If you were experiencing one of your most embarrassing moments that you hoped no one witnessed, as much as she would try to contain it, she was in laughing mode.
Charlene enjoyed reading, music, and movies. In addition to listening or watching, she also enjoyed playing her piano.
Charlene had a love for classic cars, cruising, and racing. While some wives despise their husbands and children’s love of cars or racing, Charlene embraced and truly enjoyed it. She continued to follow her passion even after the passing of her husband, annually attending Cruisin’ the Coast or cruising the streets in her Camaro SS convertible.
The family would like to thank St. Joseph’s Hospice, Living in Love, and everyone who provided loving care and support through her illness.
