Catherine Habetz O'Connor

Catherine Helen Habetz O’Connor was born on June 25, 1949 in Crowley, LA and passed away on Monday, April 18, 2011 at her home in Gretna, LA. She resided in Metairie and in Gretna for almost 40 years and taught elementary school at St. Catherine of Siena in Metairie, St. Joseph in Gretna and St. Rosalie in Harvey. Some say she practically taught half the kids of Gretna! She loved living in the New Orleans area and was a huge New Orleans Saints fan. She was a graduate of St. Michael’s High School in Crowley, LA and McNeese State University in Lake Charles, LA. She is survived by her brothers and sisters: Leonard Alphonse Habetz, Jr. (Carolyn), Alberta Habetz Barlow, Charles Habetz, Sr. (Kay), Lucille Habetz Borne (Norman), Henrietta (Putt) Habetz, Ralph Habetz, Claire Habetz, Pauline Habetz as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband, Hugh (Pudgy) O’Connor Jr.; mother and father, Leonard Alphonse Habetz, Sr. and Frances Meyer Habetz; brother Henry Habetz and sister Frances Habetz Hooten.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend the visitation at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 2100 Westbank Expy., Harvey, LA on Thursday, April 21, 2011 from 3 PM to 8 PM. A Prayer Service will be held for 7 PM.
Her remains will thence be transferred to Gessey-Ferguson Funeral Home in Crowley, LA for visitation on Monday, April 25, 2011 from 8 AM until 10:30 AM. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Leo IV Church in Roberts Cove, LA at 11 AM. Interment will follow in St. Leo IV Church Cemetery.
