Cassandra “Sana” Enright Winck, 80, passed away on Friday, August 4, 2023, following a long and fulfilling life shaped by her love for her family and her unwavering passion for sports, especially golf. On June 30, 1943, Sana was born to Janet Cecile and Joseph J. Enright, Jr. in Algiers and raised in a Catholic family with her five siblings: Joseph J. Enright, III; Sigrid Vedros; Sidney Gene Enright; Stephanie Calderaro; and Janet Lynn Taranto. As part of a big family, she also enjoyed the company of her many cousins while growing up. She attended Holy Name of Mary School and graduated from Holy Angels Academy. In 1966, Sana met the love of her life, Kenny, when they stood in a friend’s wedding together, and in December of the following year, they married. Throughout their nearly 40 years of marriage, they enjoyed traveling with friends, playing golf, and coaching girls’ softball and basketball teams at Oakdale Playground. As a dedicated mother, Sana raised her two daughters, Stacy (Michael) and Nicole (Daniel), with unconditional love and steadfast devotion. She relished in their achievements and bliss, and they were her pride and joy. Sana loved watching her daughters blossom into remarkable women and mothers, and she was immensely proud of their dedication to their career paths in education. Sana’s life was beautifully enriched by the presence of her beloved grandchildren: Rory P. Luke, Jr. (Hannah), Noah Robert, and Francesca Robert; and from her great-grandchild, Crane Luke. Her face would light up with sheer delight whenever she was surrounded by their laughter and innocence. Sana cherished every moment spent with them, nurturing their dreams and instilling in them her values of kindness and compassion that she held dear, and her dry sense of humor that cheered all who knew her. She remained active and had a zest for life that was palpable. She derived great pleasure from playing golf, a sport that became her passion. Her love for the game took her on incredible journeys around the world, playing on breathtaking courses in the United States and in Europe. She created lifelong memories with her golfing companions. Sana, who especially treasured the moments shared with her golf friends while watching the Solheim Cup and the U.S. Women's Open, excitedly awaited her travels this fall to Finca Cortesín in Andalucía, Spain. While there, she planned to watch the Solheim Cup 2023 and play several challenging golf courses. The true highlight of her life was spending time with her family, whether hosting a holiday meal, attending her grandchildren’s sporting events, or vacationing at the beach. On Thanksgiving Day, she opened her home to family, friends, and anyone else who did not have a place to eat. In addition to hosting holiday events, Sana graciously and selflessly welcomed others into her home, tending to their every need with heartfelt care and creating an atmosphere of warmth, laughter, and togetherness. In her professional life, Sana dedicated over 30 years of her time and talents to Jefferson Parish Recreation Department. She was an invaluable employee, leaving an indelible mark on her colleagues. Her dedication and passion for her work were evident to all who had the privilege of knowing her. With a fervor for creativity and an eye for design, she transformed her fondness for art into a successful business. As an entrepreneur, Sana owned Algiers Screen Printing for many years. She appreciated the entire screen printing process from designing custom shirts to the silk screening of the design. This hobby provided Sana with fulfillment and happiness until she retired. In addition to her immediate family, Sana is survived by her sisters, numerous cousins, and friends, especially her best friend of over 30 years, Betty Dobson. Sana is preceded in death by her husband Kenny, her parents, her brothers, sister-in-law Sandra Schmitt, and her brother-in-law Raymond Taranto. Relatives and friends of the family, also employees of the Jefferson Parish Recreation Department are invited to attend the Prayer Service in the chapel of Mothe Funeral Home, 2100 Westbank Expwy., Harvey, LA on Wednesday, August 9, 2023 at 11am.
