It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Carrie Bella Milligan, who departed this life on December 19, 2025, at the age of 89.
Carrie was a beloved wife, a devoted mother to Raymond, and a proud grandmother who dearly loved Drew and Katie. She did everything she could to ensure her son never wanted for anything and was always there for him. She not only spent time with her grandchildren but shared her love with them in countless ways. Carrie was overjoyed to become a great‑grandmother to Riley and Easton. Though their time together was brief, she cherished every moment.
A proud Catholic and a giving soul, Carrie went out of her way to help those in need. In 2014, after making a special request to St. Joseph, she began the St. Joseph Altar at Our Lady of the Angels Church. It was extraordinary to witness the church community come together—supporting Carrie, embracing her love for her parish and neighbors, and creating a beautiful tradition. Countless visitors admired the Altar’s beauty and shared in the joy of serving others by helping to feed the homeless, support single mothers, and care for children in need.
Carrie was also a steadfast supporter of St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Shriners Children’s, and Catholic Charities. She was the kind of person who would give her very last dollar—or the shirt off her back—to someone in need, unafraid to help the homeless or anyone who needed a hand. Some of Carrie’s proudest moments were the birth of her son, Raymond; the births of her grandchildren, Drew and Katie; and receiving the Order of St. Louis in recognition of her leadership and dedicated service to the Church. She was not only a loving mother and grandmother, but she was overjoyed for Drew and Mallory when she became a great‑grandmother to Riley and Easton. Carrie’s love for her family—always being there, whether needed or not—and her constant habit of putting others’ needs before her own made her the special person she was. She will truly be missed, but never forgotten.
The community is invited to celebrate her life and honor her memory at the visitation, which will take place on December 23, 2025, from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM at St. John Paul II, located at 6851 River Rd, Waggaman, LA 70094. Following the visitation, a Mass will commence at 11:00 AM and continue until 12:00 PM at the same location. Immediately after the Mass, Carrie will be laid to rest at Restlawn Park Cemetery, located at 3540 US-90, Avondale, LA 70094, with interment services beginning at 12:00 PM.
