Carolyn Ferguson

May 25, 1958 — May 28, 2026

Marrero

On May 28, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family, Carolyn Michelle Ferguson peacefully entered eternal rest. Born on May 25, 1958, to the late Viola Jones and Clyde Ferguson Sr., Carolyn lived a life filled with faith, love, laughter, and devotion to those she cherished most.

At an early age, Carolyn accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior and was baptized at Community Baptist Church in Kenner, Louisiana. Her faith remained a guiding force throughout her life and was evident in the kindness, compassion, and generosity she showed to everyone she encountered.

Carolyn was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt, cousin, and friend. She never met a stranger and had a remarkable ability to make people feel welcomed, loved, and valued. Her infectious smile, unforgettable laugh, and warm spirit could brighten any room. She was truly the life of the party and brought joy wherever she went.

She enjoyed spending time with her family, taking road trips and vacations, fishing, singing, and dancing. Carolyn's beautiful voice could captivate anyone who heard her sing. She loved God deeply and was always willing to lend a helping hand to those in need. Whether offering encouragement, support, or simply a listening ear, she was a source of strength and comfort for so many. Her love was genuine, her heart was big, and her presence was a blessing to all who knew her.

Carolyn leaves to cherish her memory her loving children: Aisha Ferguson-Collins (Vernon), Eric Ridgley, Eugene Hamilton IV (Jessica), and Tony Hewitt.

She was a devoted grandmother to Nestaze’ and Nathan Bailey III; Erica, Eric, Erin, and Amariie Ridgley; Aniyah and Armani Hamilton; and Marcus Galtney Jr.

She was a proud great grandmother to Tru’ Wright, Kori Bowden and Na’Lani Bailey.

She also leaves behind her beloved siblings: Shirley Daniels (Robert), Florence F. Mondy (Jesse), and Ronald Ferguson (Lena).

Carolyn shared a special bond with her lifelong best friend, Derotha “DeDe” Thompson, and her bonus daughter, Patrice “Tresey” Ford.

She is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives, and friends whose lives were touched by her love, wisdom, and unwavering support.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her parents, Viola Jones and Clyde Ferguson; her son, Marcus Galtney; her grandson, Emarin Ridgley; and her siblings, Vera Pacely, Joseph Clemmons, Clyde Ferguson Jr., Donald Ferguson, Charles Ferguson, Theresa Ferguson, Joyce F. Harris, Shirley F. Havies, Emily Harris, and Marion F. Clay.

Although our hearts are heavy with sorrow, we find comfort in knowing that Carolyn's life was a life well lived. She loved deeply, laughed often, gave freely, and remained faithful to God throughout her journey. The memories she created, the lives she touched, and the love she shared will continue to live on in the hearts of all who knew her.

As we celebrate Carolyn's life, we rejoice in the promise of eternal life and take comfort in knowing that she is now resting peacefully in the presence of her Lord and Savior. Though she will be greatly missed, her legacy of love, faith, strength, and joy will remain with us forever.
