Carmen Marie Flores Hood, a lifelong resident of the New Orleans Area passed away on Friday, March 31, 2017 in Mandeville, LA. Visitation will be held at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 2100 Westbank Expressway on Thursday, April 6, 2017 from 9:30AM until 11AM. Funeral Services will be held at the funeral home on Thursday at 11AM, followed by interment in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Gretna, LA. Carmen was born in San Juan Puerto Rico on March 4, 1924. Her career as a Registered Nurse began in Chicago, Illinois in the 1940’s. She worked in many fields of nursing from surgery to working with the mentally ill, in Chicago, Ohio, Texas and Louisiana. She had an unwavering Faith in God and she attended many Baptist Churches in her lifetime. She was a member of the choir and volunteered many hours to the First Baptist Church of Gretna in the 1960’s and 1970’s. She loved her family, traveling, sewing and cooking for her family and loved Christmas—recalling her favorite Spanish rice, meat sauce and deviled eggs at numerous parties she attended. In addition to her husband, Lucien Hood of 37 years, she was preceded in death by a son, David Lee Hood in 1971 a son, Tommy Hugh Hood in 2005 and two brothers from San Juan Puerto Rico. She is survived by her two children, Robert “Bobby” Lucien Hood and daughter, Reba Sue Weymouth; daughter-in-law, Suzanne Hood; son-in-law, Stephen Weymouth, 14 loving grandchildren and 18 great grand children.
