Byron Francis Lemoine passed peacefully into eternal rest on Thursday, March 19, 2026 at the age of 69, following complications associated with a pontine stroke. He was a lifelong native of Algiers, Louisiana. He attended St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Elementary School and he graduated from De La Salle High School. Byron was beloved by all he met for his kind-hearted, generous, humble and comical personality. He will be deeply missed. Please keep him in your heart and prayers. Byron was the son of Roland F. Lemoine (soon to celebrate 101 years of age), and Fannie Babin Lemoine, who passed away on May 10, 2007. He was the younger brother of Randall Lemoine (wife, Gloria), and he was “Uncle B” to Angela Mitchell (Chris), Christie Lemoine, and Blake Lemoine (Heather), all of whom live in the Baton Rouge area. He was blessed with two great nieces, Abbey Mitchell and Madison Boykin and one great nephew, Jace Gongaware. Byron was never married. He enjoyed his perpetual bachelorhood. Byron was a master craftsman of auto body repair. He worked in the business for over three decades, most recently at Gerber Collision & Glass, Harvey, LA. At the shop he was affectionately known as “Old Dude”, honoring his seniority and expertise. He was greatly admired for his amazing work, transforming a pile of junk wrecked car into a masterpiece that looked as though it just rolled off the dealer showroom. Byron, like his father and grandfather before him, was a very diligent worker, dedicated to his work with a drive for excellence. Whereas most people proudly show pictures of their kids on their phone camera roll, Byron proudly showed off his masterpieces of car body work. Byron was an avid muscle car enthusiast and was the owner of two classic Chevrolet Cameros, one of which is a vintage Z28. He had actually built a garage on his home just to store them. He loved attending car shows and drag races with friends, and watching NASCAR on TV. Byron was near completion with renovations to his home, of which he was very proud. He was looking forward to spending more time fixing up his Cameros and planned to enjoy some fun trips and maybe races with friends. But Father God had other plans for him, called him home, and welcomed him into His loving arms. Byron’s untimely loss is a reminder to us all that everyday is a precious gift from God, not to be taken for granted: Carpe Diem! Family and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass in the chapel of Mothe Funeral Home, 7040 Lapalco Blvd., Marrero, LA on Saturday, March 28, 2026 at 11am. Visitation will be held from 9am until 11am. Interment will follow at the family tomb at 1:30pm at the St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church Cemetery, 1985 LA-308, Thibodaux, LA 70301. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church, 3101 Eton St. NOLA 70131 (https://standrewparish.net), his parish church, or your favorite charity as an expression of Byron’s generous nature. God rest Byron’s sweet soul. His memory will live in our hearts. Family and friends can view and sign the online guest book at www.mothefunerals.com.
