Byron passed peacefully into eternal rest on Thursday, March 19, 2026, at the age of 69, following complications associated with a pontine stroke. He was a life-long native of Algiers, Louisiana. He attended St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Elementary School, and he graduated from De La Salle High School in 1975. Byron was beloved by all those that he met. He was kind-hearted, generous, humble and comical. He will be deeply missed. God rest his sweet soul. Please keep him in your prayers and keep his memory alive in your heart.
Byron was the son of Roland F. Lemoine (soon to celebrate 101 years of age), and Fannie Babin Lemoine, his dear mother who passed away on May 10, 2007. He was the younger brother of Randy “Big Bro” Lemoine (wife Gloria), and he was “UncleB” to Angela Mitchell (Chris), Christie Lemoine, and Blake Lemoine (Heather), all of whom live in the Baton Rouge area. He was blessed with 2 great nieces: Abbey Mitchell and Madison Boykin; and one great nephew: Jace Gongaware. Byron was never married.
Byron was a master craftsman of auto body repair. He worked in the business for over three decades, most recently at Gerber Collision & Glass, Harvey, LA. He was greatly admired for his amazing work: Transforming a severely wrecked car into a masterpiece that looked as though it had just rolled off the dealer’s showroom. Byron, like his father and grandfather before him, was a very diligent worker, dedicated to his work, and with a drive for excellence. Whereas most people proudly showed-off pictures of their kids on their phone camera roll, Byron proudly showed-off his masterpieces of car body work. On weekends, Byron enjoyed socializing and eating seafood with his many dear friends. He loved going to concerts and listening to his favorite bands. His favorite song, “Hot Rod Lincoln” (1971), always put a big smile on his face.
Byron was an avid muscle car enthusiast. He loved his two pride and joy Chevrolet Camaros: A classic 1968 and a late model 2002 Z28. He had actually added a garage on his home just to store them. He loved going to car shows and drag races with friends, and regularly watched NHRA on TV. Byron was near completion with renovations to his home, of which he was very proud. He was looking forward to spending more time fixing-up his Camaros, and he planned to enjoy some fun trips with friends and maybe even getting back into racing. But Father God had other plans for him, called him home, and welcomed him into His loving arms. Byron’s untimely loss is a reminder to us all that every day is a precious gift from God, not to be taken for granted: Carpe Diem!
Byron’s funeral services will be held Saturday, March 28, at Mothe’s Funeral Home, Marrero, LA (7040 Lapalco Blvd., 70072). Visitation will be held there from 9am-11am, with a funeral mass to follow, beginning at 11am in the Chapel. Burial services will be at the family tomb at 1:30pm at St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church Cemetery, 1985 LA-308, Thibodaux, LA 70301.
In lieu of flowers, please offer donations to St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church, 3101 Eton St., NOLA, 70131 (https://standrewparish.net/), Byron’s parish church, or your favorite Charity, as a memorial to his generous nature.
