Bozidar Cibilic was delivered into the hands of his savior Jesus Christ and entered into his eternal life on January 29, 2026 at the age of 78. Beloved husband of 50 years of Lepa Jakulica Cibilic. Loving Father of Ljubica Cibilic, Meri Cibilic and Bozidar Jakov Cibilic. Cherished grandfather of Celina Cibilic and Gemma Cibilic. Son of the late Bozo and Ljube Cibilic. Brother of the late Marija Pintar (the late Tino) and the late Jakov Cibilic. Uncle of the late Tanja Pintar. Devoted best friend of Mike “Pal” Barthelemy. He is also survived by a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
Bozidar was born in the old world in a small fishing village called Duba Peljeska, Croatia. He developed a strong work ethic in order to survive. In his little town, there was one church that was very special to him named Saint Anthony. He loved going there and went all the time. Even as a little boy, he was a very God loving child. Bozidar lived a life defined by responsibility, sacrifice, and unwavering devotion to his family. He left Croatia with almost nothing. Bozidar came to this new world called America, a lonely boy of only seventeen years of age. Finally arriving in New Orleans, where he harvested oysters and built a new life for the next 60 years. He named his oyster vessel after the beloved Saint Anthony. His dedication to his faith and his desire to bring light to those in need epitomized his joyful and generous nature. He brought with him a spirit of resilience and a dedication to his family that shaped each of our lives. He taught us the value of hard work, kindness, and never forgetting where we came from.
A giant of a man, he sacrificially paved the way for his children to achieve the dreams he held for them. May his memory be a blessing and may we carry forth his legacy of love and compassion in all that we do. Dragi Tata, your light will forever shine brightly in our hearts.
“Allow the light and the healing presence of Christ to shine brightly through your lives. In that way, all those who come in contact with you will discover the loving kindness of God” – St. Pope John Paul II
