After retiring from Chevron, he devoted his time to his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, taking great joy in attending their games, school events, and Masses.

He was a faithful member of St. Anthony Church, where he served as an usher for many years. In 2017, he received the Order of St. Louis Award in recognition of his exceptional service a distinction honoring dedicated lay Catholics who quietly serve their parishes and ministries.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Blase and Thelma Shambra, and his daughter, Mary Louise “Malou” Shambra Connick.

He is survived by his beloved wife; his children, Blase “Buddy” Shambra III (Jeanne), Michael Shambra (Christine), Julie Shambra Plustache (Jean-Luc), and son-in-law Dutch Connick; his grandchildren, Tracee Connick Brewer (Robby), James Connick (Kendall), Jessica Shambra (Kevin), Blase Connick (Maggie), and Sarah Oliver; and his great-grandchildren, Maximus, Graeme, and Henry Brewer; Cullen and Mary James Connick; and Jesse and Mary Louise Connick.
