Bettye Wilson Ragas

Bettye Wilson Ragas peacefully passed away April 25, 2017. in Mandeville, LA from lung cancer. She was 69 years of age. Betty was born March 15, 1948, to Mary Wilson Boone in Monticello, MS. Her father Paul Phillip Carr, passed away prior to her birth and she was lovingly raised by her grandmother Bessie Rutledge Wilson. In addition to her parents and grandparents she is preceded in death by her sister Linda Sue Pickerd. Betty will be forever remembered by her loving husband, Donald Anthony Ragas, Sr., her children she adored Donald Anthony Ragas. Jr., Angie Ragas Tatford (Archie), and her beloved granddaughters Rachael Therese Tatford and Reese Elizabeth Tatford. She is also survived by her extended family Helen and Kenneth Ragas, Hally and Gary Ragas, Philomene(deceased) and Tommy Eccles, John Ragas(deceased), Frankie Wilson and a multitude of much loved nieces and nephews.
After marriage to Donald, she became a lifelong resident of Buras, LA. Betty was a homemaker, who devoted her life to raising her children. She was an eloquent writer and poet. Betty was a deeply religious woman, converting to Catholicism after her children were born. She prayed daily and selflessly for others, remaining a devout servant of our Lord. All who knew Betty loved her and we remain in awe of her kind, quiet spirit. A truly gentle soul. In lieu of flowers please send donations to a Catholic charity of your choice in honor of Betty.
Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the visitation at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 28683 LA-Hwy 23 in Port Sulphur, LA on Monday, May 1, 2017 from 10 AM to 12 Noon. A Funeral Mass will follow. Interment Our Lady of Good Harbor Cemetery in Buras.
