Betty Gaudet Pousson, born July 10, 1936 in Lockport, LA entered eternal life on May 21, 2026 at the age of 89. She died peacefully at her home in Amite, LA. Prior to moving to Amite, she was a long-term resident of Westbank areas of Terrytown and Harvey. Legally blind since birth, Betty attended and graduated from the Louisiana School for the Blind in Baton Rouge, LA where she met and later married her husband, Murlin Pousson.She worked with her husband for many years in the food service business as part of the RSVA in various Federal and State buildings.
Betty is survived by her son Mark Pousson (Susan), and two daughters Tammy Pousson Hamer and Lori Pousson Hamer (Kenny), 7 Grandchildren: Tessa Pousson Vorhaben (Quinn), Christopher Hamer (Alice), Jessica Hamer Braud (Byron), Danielle Hamer (Levent), Kenny Hamer, Krista Hamer (Chris) and Katherine Hamer and 11 Great-Grandchildren: Griffin, Harrison, Eleanor, Emma, Ryleigh, Ethan, Aiden, Lakeleigh, Karoline, Paxtyn and Roman, and numerous family relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband of 66 years Murlin Pousson, her father Percy Gaudet, and her mother Emma Falgout Gaudet, her sisters, Marlene Fazzio, Darlene Talamo, Mary Farve, and Donna Territo. Great-Grandchildren Ethan and Clay Vorhaben. She is survived by her Brothers Ronald “Bud” Gaudet, and Percy “Butch” Gaudet and her Sister Sharon Culotta.
Relatives and friends are invited to attend funeral services at Mothe’s Funeral Home, 2100 Westbank Expressway, Harvey, LA 70058, Visitation will be on Thursday, May 28, 2026 at 11:30 am followed by mass at 1:30 PM. Interment will follow at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
