Betty Hymel Faucheux

November 8, 1931 — February 26, 2026

Betty Hymel Faucheux passed away peacefully on the evening of February 26, 2026, at the age of 94. Betty was born in Destrehan, Louisiana on November 8, 1931, to the late Olidy Hymel and Elise Schexnaydre. Betty is survived by her children, Elise Marie Faucheux, René Victor Faucheux, Wallace Paul Faucheux Jr (Aimée), and Scott Matthew Faucheux (Deborah), 14 grandchildren – Blake Michael, Kerry Frank Jr, Heather Theresa, Erin Leigh, Lauren Casey, Mary Brennan Colleen, Chase Paul, Jay Philip, Norman Paul, Peggy Helen, Ryan Andrew, Stephanie Christine, Emily Michelle and Steven Paul, and 24 great grandchildren as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and extended family. Betty dedicated her life to the well-being of her family. Her zest for life and her deep Catholic faith still serves as a guiding light for her 5 children, 14 grandchildren, and 24 great grandchildren. She captured every moment she could spend with them, moments they will all cherish. Betty was a loyal parishioner of Saint Martha Catholic Church in Harvey, Louisiana and was honored with the Saint Louis Medallion for her exemplary service to her beloved parish. She had a special place in her heart for the Blessed Mother, and Betty prayed the rosary daily. Betty was a member of the Harvey Golden Age Club for many years, serving in various roles within her club. She thoroughly enjoyed those special times spent with her club friends. Betty loved football and could be found on many fall nights or days watching her favorite teams, the Archbishop Shaw Eagles, the Hahnville Tigers, and the Tulane Green Wave. Betty was loved dearly by her family and had many friends and associates who felt that same way. God has called back a rare and beautiful gem. Relatives, friends, and members of the Harvey Golden Age Club are invited to attend a Funeral Mass for Betty on Friday, March 6, 2026, at 11:30 am, at Saint Martha Catholic Church in Harvey, Louisiana. A graveside service will immediately follow the Mass at Westlawn Cemetery in Gretna, Louisiana. Visitation at Saint Martha's Catholic Church will begin at 9:00 am.
