Beryl Jean Vegas Whitney

A Beloved Wife, Mother, Grandmother, and the Heart of Our Family

With heavy hearts, we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved Beryl Jean Vegas Gonzales Whitney on October 17, 2026, at the age of 77.

Beryl was the devoted wife of Rene Joseph Whitney, Jr., with whom she shared 38 years of marriage. She was a loving mother to Troy Whitney (Bethany), Ernestina G. Holton (Joseph), and Eugene Whitney (Brittany), and a cherished grandmother to Savannah (Stephen), Victoria, Seth, Liliana, Delila, Luciana, Katalina, Dylan, and Connor.

A native of Harvey and longtime resident of Marrero, Louisiana, Beryl was the daughter of the late Eugene J. Vegas and Eva Mae Rawle Vegas. She proudly served many years within the Jefferson Parish School System.

Beryl was the heart of her family, remembered for her love, kindness, strength, and devotion. Her legacy will live on through those she cherished and the many lives she touched.

She will be forever loved, deeply missed, and never forgotten.

Relatives and Friends of the Family are invited to attend the Memorial Visitation at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 7040 Lapalco Blvd., Marrero, LA on Saturday, October 31, 2026 from 11 AM until Service time at 1:30 PM. A private family interment will be held at a later date.
