Bernard Joseph Peranio Sr.

Bernard Joseph Peranio, Sr. passed away Sunday, March 19, 2017. Beloved husband of 63 years to Carol Usner Peranio. Father of Bernard J. Peranio, Jr. (Robyn), Linda Peranio Teen (Daniel), Donald G. Peranio (Lauren), Lisa C. Peranio, and Rhonda Aucoin. Grandfather of Steven, Kristin, David, Bethany, Dominick, Noel, and Matthew. Great-grandfather of Tyler, Dylan, Daniel, and Evelyn. Age 84 years, a native of New Orleans, and resident of Terrytown and Mandeville, LA. Bernard was a Veteran of the United States Navy. He was a machinist and retired from Avondale Shipyard. He was an active parishioner of Christ the King Catholic Church, member of the The Holy Name Society, Boy Scouts, American Legion, Knights of Columbus, and received the Order of St. Louis Medallion. He was a 'family first' man, especially enjoying time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He spent his time as an avid fisherman and woodworker and enjoyed gardening in his backyard farm. He enjoyed cooking and often commented “This would be good if it just had some taste”. He will be deeply missed by all.
Relatives and Friends of the Family are invited to attend the Memorial Mass at Christ the King Catholic Church, 535 Deerfield Ave., Terrytown, LA on Friday, March 24, 2017 at 12 Noon. Interment will follow in Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Gretna, LA. Memorial Visitation will be from 10 AM until mass time.
