Bennette Gray Caves Edmundson passed away on Monday, May 4, 2026 at the age of 80. A native of Wayne County, Mississippi, she was born February 16, 1946.
Bennette was preceded in death by her beloved husband of 54 years, Leonard Broadbent Edmundson; parents Bennie Caves and Lucille Hutcherson Caves Holifield; and brothers-in-law Jimmie Green and Judge Clarence E. McManus. She is survived by her son Eric Leonard Edmundson; granddaughter Lauren Kate Edmundson Westfaul; sister Annie Ruth Green; sisters-in-law Barbara E. McManus, Isabella Edmundson, and Lollita F. Edmundson; brothers-in-law Benjamin Edmundson and Richard Edmundson; four nieces, and three nephews.
Bennette was a graduate of University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg. After graduation, she taught school for a short time in Pass Christian, Mississippi before moving to Jefferson Parish, Louisiana, where she taught first grade for more than 30 years. She was a devoted Christian who was an active and long-time member of Calvary Baptist Church located in Algiers, Louisiana. Bennette was a kind, generous, and sweet person who will be sadly missed by her family and friends.
A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date.
