Ben Becnel Sr.

Benjamin Xavier Becnel, Sr. went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Wednesday, July 29, 2026 at the age of 83 years old. Beloved husband of Gwendolyn Verdun Becnel. Loving father of Benjamin Xavier Becnel, Jr. (Kim) and Christy Lynn Becnel (Ryan). Grandfather of Christian LaNasa (Emily), Benjamin Becnel III, Brendan Becnel (Jana) and Lydia LaNasa (Kyle). Great Grandfather to Kora Woo-Kapit, Calla Gwen Landry, Sonny Layne LaNasa (on the way). Beloved Brother of Robert Becnel and Shirley Navarre and the late Thomas, Harold, Arthur Jr., Johnny, Hewiit, Saxon and Carol Becnel. Son of the late Gladys Brandt Becnel and Arthur Becenl, Sr. A lifelong resident of Plaquemines Parish and a widely celebrated citrus and tomato farmer who proudly served as the parish's 2012 Orange King. An extremely industrious man working as a painter, River Oaks school bus driver, and housing contractor whose lifelong passion was farming. He was a great man of the outdoors, frequently spending his days fishing and hunting with friends and family. Spending most Sundays worshiping as a faithful member of the First Baptist Church of Belle Chasse where he devoted his life to Christ. Papa, as he was known by his family, was admired and loved dearly and will be greatly missed. Relatives and friends of the family are invited to attend the Visitation at The First Baptist Church of Belle Chasse, Hwy 23, Belle Chasse, LA on Monday, August 3, 2026 from 10AM until 11:30AM. Funeral Service will begin at 11:30AM and interment will follow immediately at Bayhi-Becnel Cemetery in Alliance, LA.
