Barbara O'Leary Savoie

Barbara O’Leary Savoie was called to Heaven on February 28, 2024 at the age of 82.  She died at home, peacefully and among family.   She was preceded in death by her parents, Louis O’Leary and Cecile Landry O’Leary.  She was survived by her loving husband of 62 years, Eugene Michael Savoie; her daughter, Gina Savoie Montgomery (Byron); her grandchildren, Mallory Montgomery and Carl Montgomery; her sister, Beverly O’Leary Parks (Melvin); her nieces and nephew, Denise Parks Keller (Ted), Michael Parks (Melissa), Lesley Parks LeGlue (Kurt); and numerous great-nieces and great-nephews.  Barbara was a teacher by profession and retired from Visitation of Our Lady School in Marrero, Louisiana after teaching for over 40 years.  She was well-loved by her students and touched many lives.  She loved crocheting, painting, playing video poker, and spending time with her family.  Barbara was a loving woman with no demands, who simply enjoyed life.  She made the world a better place while she was here, and while she is in a better place now, she will be sorely missed.  In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital in memory of Barbara.  A private family visitation and Catholic Mass will be held at MOTHE FUNERAL HOME in Marrero, Louisiana on Monday, March 4, 2024 and Barbara will thereafter be interred at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Cemetery in Westwego, Louisiana.
