Barbara Stafford Murphy

Barbara Stafford Murphy passed away peacefully on July 20, 2026 at the age of 92. She was born on December 28, 1933. Beloved wife of the late Patrick G. Murphy. Mother of Patrick G. Murphy, Jr. (Jennifer) and Shawn K. Murphy. Grandmother of Clayton A. Murphy and Timothy P. Murphy. Great-grandmother of Camden Murphy and Carter Murphy. Step-grandmother of Lani and Lizzi Stanton and Hunter and Sawyer Wright. She was preceded in death by her parents, Catherine Donewar Stafford Hebert, Paul Stafford, and step-father Phillip Hebert. Sister of Paul E. Stafford of Kerrville, TX.

She was a wonderful wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother who was loving, caring, and compassionate to her family and friends. Her strong faith gave her peace and strength throughout her life. She was a substitute teacher and retired secretary for the Jefferson Parish School System. Barbara loved to sew, read, travel and especially enjoyed Disney World. She was a longtime member and Past President of the Westbank Lions Club and was a devout Christian and patriot. Her family, church, community and country were a huge part of her life.

The family would like to express their appreciation to the staff of Bayside Healthcare, especially nurse Keisha and Anvoi Hospice and nurse Catherine for their care and compassion during this difficult time.

Relatives and friends of the family are invited to gather at Gretna United Methodist Church, 1309 Whitney Avenue, Gretna, LA on Tuesday, July 28, 2026 from 10 AM to 11 AM. Funeral Services will follow. Interment Westlawn Memorial Park.
