Bala Devi Bansal passed peacefully on 15 August 2023 at West Jefferson Medical Center at the age of 86. She was the loving wife of Jagdish Bansal, mother to Bindia Bansal and grandmother to Revati Bansal-Goodman. Her son-in-law, Jeff Goodman was another child for her, the son she never had. Outside of her immediate family, she loved her siblings’ children as her own: Sudhir Dwivedi, Anil Dwivedi (Sangeeta), Rajiv Dwivedi (Christy), Nisha Chand, Praveen Chand (Dianne), Bipan Chand (Deepa), and Ritika Bergfeld (Brian). She was the last of her seven siblings. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, mother-in-law, and homemaker. Her first love outside of her family was cooking, as anyone who has come to our home knows. This fueled her second love, which was gardening, in order to reap fruits and vegetables to cook and serve to her family and guests. She also loved selling her plants and Ayurvedic concoctions at the Gretna farmer's market. Customers and vendors alike loved learning from her. She will be greatly missed by friends, family, and her many customers at the market. Visitation with Hindu services will occur simultaneously at Mothe Funeral Home, 7040 Lapalco Blvd., Marrero, LA on Saturday 19 August 2023 from 8am to 10 am. Procession will then proceed to the crematorium for final services there. All are welcome to attend this as well. Please check in with the family for details about the memorial at the ISKCON Temple at 2936 Esplanade Avenue, NO on 26 August where a feast will be served in her honor.
