Audrey Rita Odenwald

Audrey Rita Odenwald, beloved daughter, friend, and cherished member of her community, passed away peacefully at her home on July 6, 2026, in Natchez, MS, at the age of 95. She was born on August 14, 1930, in Algiers, LA.

She embarked on her professional career as a clerk for the U.S. Department of Agriculture, serving with diligence and pride. Later, she also contributed her skills at the McKenzie Bakery in Algiers, LA. Audrey carried out her work with dignity, earning the trust and appreciation of her colleagues and customers alike.

She was a member of the Golden Agers. She had a genuine love for historical documentaries, always eager to learn and reflect on the stories and lessons of the past. Above all, Audrey’s gentle affection extended warmly to her dogs, lovingly known as her “grand-dogs”. Their companionship brought her comfort and delight, and she treated them as treasured family.

Audrey’s legacy is reflected through those she cherished most including  Susan Lae Nielsen (Steve), Tina Ann Lae, and Christine "Chrissy" Nielsen, Barbara Odenwald Lae (Harold), Melvin Odenwald (Claire), as well as a host of extended family members. Audrey remembered with great love throughout her life her parents William J. Odenwald and Marjorie Seymour Odenwald.

The family would like to extend a special thanks to all of her wonderful caregivers, especially Natasha Posey and the nurses of Deaconess Hospice, for their dedication and compassion during Audrey’s final days.

Friends and family are invited to honor Audrey’s life at a visitation on Friday, July 10, 2026, from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Harvey - Mothe Funeral Homes, LLC, 2100 Westbank Expy, Harvey, LA 70058. A Mass will follow from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. at the same location. Audrey will be laid to rest in a burial service at Westlawn Memorial Park, 1225 Whitney Ave., Terrytown, LA 70056, beginning at 12:30 p.m.
