Aubrey Joseph Champagne died peacefully at his home in Marrero, Louisiana on Monday, March 19, 2018 at the age of 74. Aubrey was born in Raceland, Louisiana to the late Octave Joseph Champagne and Emily Zeringue Champagne. Beloved husband of Judy Boyett Champagne for 15 years. Father of Nicole Champagne Reilly (John). Grandfather of Lauren Nicole Clayton, Elise Mary Reilly, & Aubrie Jane Reilly. Brother of Harold Champagne (Linda), Dorella Champagne Guidry (Joe), Byron Anthony Champagne, Sr. (Karen) and several beloved nieces and nephews. His is preceded in death by his sister in law, Linda Jones Champagne and nephew Scott James Brouillette. He began his career as an iron worker, ultimately foreman, for Carl E Woodward for 25 years. He later retired from the Jefferson Parish Inspection and Code Enforcement Division after 20 years of service as a Building Inspector. He was a 25 year member of the United States Tennis Association and an US Army veteran who served in Vietnam. He was an accomplished welder, builder, and craftsman who was generous with his time and talent and loved teaching and helping others. Relatives and Friends of the Family are invited to attend the Funeral Service in the Chapel of MOTHE FUNERAL HOME, 2100 Westbank Expy, Harvey, LA on Saturday, March 24, 2018 at 2 PM. Interment private. Visitation will be held from 10 AM until 2 PM. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the local Veteran's charity of your choice. The family would like to thank Dr. Archie Brown, his staff and Ochsner Hospital Hematology/Oncology Department for their care and dedication in keeping Aubrey well for the last 22 years.
