Aramise A. "Jimmy" Ates 79, died Saturday, July 6, 2024. He was a native of Belle Chasse and lived in Terrytown, Jean Lafitte, and Picayune. He retired after 45 years from Avondale Shipyards as their sign painter and was owner of Terrytown Signs. He enjoyed family, friends, music, travel, outdoors, and all aspects of life. Jimmy was married for 60 years to his beloved wife, June Cavallier Ates. He is survived by his son Danny Ates (Susan), his daughter Angela Ates LaFrance (Chetta), his granddaughter Brittany Adams, and his great-grandson Parker Adams. He was preceded in death by his father John W. Ates, his mother Annis Babin Ates, and siblings Jack "Pete" Ates, Ruby Ates Cheramie, Adrian "A.J." Ates, Alvin "Pee Wee" Ates, Melvin "Chubby" Ates and Annis Ates Parker. There will be a memorial service for family and friends on Thursday, July 18, 2024 at 12:30PM at Westlawn Memorial Park, 1225 Whitney Ave., in Gretna, LA. A visitation will be held from 10:30AM until 12PM on Thursday, July 18, 2024 at Mothe Funeral Home, 2100 Westbank Expressway, in Harvey, LA.
