It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Anthony Lawrence LaBruzza Jr., affectionately known as Tony, who left this world on November 14, 2024. Born on December 27, 1948, Tony lived a life full of passion, dedication, and love for those around him.
Tony devoted many years of his life to his career at the Waterford III Nuclear Power Plant, where he was not only respected for his dedication and hard work but cherished for the friendships he cultivated throughout his journey. A proud member of the Carpenters Local 1846 in Kenner, he took immense joy in the camaraderie fostered at various job sites and cherished the memories made along the way.
A dedicated learner, Tony graduated from Delgado Community College in 1968 with a degree in Carpentry, laying the foundation for a successful career. His skills as a craftsman were matched only by his ability to connect with people, which was evident in the warmth and kindness he showed to all. His spirit thrived in the great outdoors, where he found happiness regardless of the weather, embracing nature's beauty in every season. No fish was safe when Tony was out in his boat.
Tony's greatest pride and joy came from his loving family. He was a devoted husband to Linda Frazier from Houma, with whom he shared 44 wonderful years of marriage. Their love story was a testament to partnership and support, filled with laughter and mutual respect. As a father, he took immense joy in watching his daughter, Amanda L. Rhodes (Shelby), grow and flourish, and his heart swelled with love for his granddaughter, Allie Jane Rhodes, who brought him boundless happiness.
He leaves behind his loving sister, Carolyn Burns, along with many cherished nieces, nephews, and friends who will forever hold his memory close. Tony was preceded in death by his parents, the late Anthony Sr. and Myrtle Scott and Effie Eva Marziellie, and by his siblings, Joseph LaBruzza, Sammie LaBruzza, and Hattie Joe Mulcahy, as well as his son, Norman "Budha" Glisson. Their memories live on through the stories and love shared among family and friends.
The family would like to give a special thanks to Dr. Denise Elliot and the entire 5th Floor Staff at West Jefferson Medical Center along with the Staff of St. Catherine's Hospice Care for their amazing support and care for Tony in his final days.
