In Loving Memory of Annette C. Buras
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Annette C. Buras, who left this world to join her heavenly father, on February 18, 2026 after a courageous and fiercely fought battle with pancreatic cancer. She was diagnosed on Nov, 5, 2020. Born in New Orleans, Annette’s vibrant spirit and deep-rooted love for her city remained with her throughout her life. She lived, worked, and built a legacy of compassion, laughter, and dedication in the place she called home. Annette was the heart and soul of her family. She is survived by her beloved husband of 35 years, Tommy Buras, whose devotion was mirrored in her own unwavering love for him; her son, Jack T. Buras, of whom she was endlessly proud of; her caring sister, Margery Gilbert; and brother Guido Perez. She was also a cherished aunt to Matthew Gilbert (Jessie) and Kaelen Oubre (Jeff), with whom she shared many warm and joyful memories. Her loving mother, Gloria Cambronero, and loving father, Isaias Cambronero predeceased her. Family was everything to Annette. Whether it was camping under the stars, cheering at NASCAR races in Daytona, boating on Lake Pontchartrain, or creating magical memories at Disney, she embraced life’s adventures with open arms and an open heart. Her favorite gatherings were the simple ones — crawfish boils and backyard barbecues surrounded by laughter, good food, music, and the people she loved most. Annette found joy in the everyday: reading a good book, cooking a delicious meal, and, above all, spending time with her family. Her commitment to those she loved — especially Tommy and Jack — was boundless and pure Professionally, Annette served as the Continuing Legal Education Coordinator for the Louisiana State Bar Association for 33 years, a role she cherished deeply. Through her work, she traveled, built lasting friendships, and met countless lawyers and judges whose respect and admiration she earned. Her involvement with ACLEA (Association of Continuing Legal Education) was particularly meaningful; she held numerous roles within the organization but found her greatest joy in the friendships that blossomed there. These special bonds led to the formation of an unofficial group lovingly called "the Bs" — a circle of unwavering support, faith, and love that stood by her during her illness. Annette also gave back to her community in many ways. During Jack’s grammar school years at Christ the King Church, she proudly served on the school board and as a Eucharistic Minister for the church — roles she considered true honors. With a sense of humor that could light up any room, Annette was known for her ability to make people smile, her sincere listening ear, and her warm, comforting hugs. She had a gift for lifting others up — often with a prayer, a kind word, or simply her presence. Annette leaves this world with gratitude in her heart — for Tommy, Jack, Margery, and the Bs — whose love and support were constant strength. She touched countless lives and left each one better than she found it. Family and friends are invited to attend the Funeral Mass on Friday, February 27, 2026 at 12 noon at Christ the King Catholic Church 535 Deerfield Rd. Terrytown, Louisiana. Visitation will be held at the church from 9am until 12pm. Interment, Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Gretna, Louisiana. We would like to thank Ochsner Medical Westbank and Ochsner The Gayle and Tom Benson Cancer Research Hospital for their amazing care. Dr. Mizrahi and his team were always honest and truthful. In lieu of flowers, please consider sending a donation to the Ochsner Cancer Research Hospital. Annette will be deeply missed, forever loved, and always remembered.
