Angelo Michael Vicari, 74, passed away peacefully at his home on July 1, 2022. Angelo was born on November 4, 1947 in Alia, Sicily to Concetta and Salvatore Vicari. He immigrated to the Westbank at the age of nine and attended Marrero Middle School and West Jefferson High School. After graduation, he married his high school sweetheart Nellie Steib before being drafted into the United States Army, in which he served overseas for two years. Upon their return from Germany, they lived in Harvey where he worked for the Jefferson Parish School System as a computer programmer. He later worked with his brother Pete at Jefferson Fiberglass before opening his own company, Building Services & Repair. Angelo and Nellie went on to have two children, Melissa and David. Angelo was a tireless worker, a loyal friend, and an energetic family man. In 2009, he retired and spent his time gardening, dancing, and traveling with his wife and friends. Angelo loved talking to people and never met a stranger in his life. He had a fullness of life that belied his age, and his joy will not be soon forgotten. He was preceded in death by his father Salvatore and his mother Concetta Castiglione Vicari. He is lovingly remembered by his wife Nellie Steib Vicari, daughter Melissa (Grady), son David (Erin), and his five grandchildren Gabriel, Jordan, Christian, Ava, and Dominic. He is also survived by his brother Pete (Jackie) and sister Sarah (Gerald), along with numerous nieces and nephews. Friends and family are invited to attend a funeral mass on Wednesday, July 6, 2022 at 1:30PM in the chapel of Mothe Funeral Home, 7040 LAPALCO BLVD, in Marrero. Visitation will begin at 12PM. Interment will follow immediately at Westlawn Memorial Park, 1225 Whitney Ave., in Gretna, LA.
