Alice McGee Greer

Alice McGee Greer, age 76, of Harvey, Louisiana, passed away peacefully on April 12, 2026.

Born on October 6, 1949, in New Orleans to John Herbert McGee and Alice Rivas McGee, Alice lived a life filled with love, passion, and kindness. After graduating from Northwestern University with a bachelor’s degree in Music Education, she continued to share her love of music by instilling it in her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.

Alice was deeply devoted to her family and dedicated much of her life to caring for her children. She embraced the vibrant culture of New Orleans, cherishing Mardi Gras, Jazz Fest, Saints football, and time spent porch sitting with loved ones. She had a passion for traveling, especially to the beach, where she loved collecting seashells. Alice will be remembered as a strong and spirited woman—fiercely devoted, ever-present, and always involved in the lives and milestones of those she loved.

Alice is survived by her husband, Hiram Patrick Greer; her children, Kristina Greer Teran and Katherine Greer Krail; her sons-in-law, Federico Jose Teran and Andrew David Krail; her grandchildren, Brandon Michael Joseph Greer, Elizabeth Katherine Teran, Matthew Hiram Krail, and Madison Alice Krail; her granddaughter-in-law, Ashley Nicole Greer; and her great-grandchildren, Dominic Sawyer Greer, Peyton Rosemary Greer, and Jameson Michael David Greer. Alice is reunited in heaven with her beloved son, Hiram John Joseph Greer. Like the music of New Orleans she loved so dearly, her spirit will carry on—strong, vibrant, and unforgettable.

Visitation will be held on April 20, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass at 11:00 a.m. at Our Lady of Good Counsel Catholic Church in New Orleans. She will be laid to rest at Westlawn Memorial Park in Terrytown. A Celebration of Life will follow at Stonebridge Country Club in Gretna.
