Alice Mary Dugas Black

Alice Mary Dugas Black passed away on April 5, 2026 at the age of 73. Beloved wife of Leonard C. Black. Mother of Heidi M. Martin, step-daughters, Michelle Black, and Sherri McKenzie. Grandmother of Kira Perkins, Laramy Black, Leslee Vannoy, Weldon McKenzie, Tyler McKenzie, Macy McKenzie, and the late Sydney Vannoy. Great-grandmother of Violet Sanchez-McKenzie and Jacqueline McKenzie-Webb. Sister of Brenda D. Milioto (Johnny). Daughter of the late Nick J. Dugas and Marie Martinez Dugas.

Alice worked as a teacher’s aide and child care worker at Geraldine Boudreaux Elementary School in Terrytown and Paul J. Solis Elementary School in Gretna. She was a lifelong resident of New Orleans and was a quintessential New Orleanian who embraced Mardi Gras, parties and celebrations of all kinds. She was a member of the former Krewe of Nefeteri, and more recently, the Big Easy Mopar Association, with her beloved Leonard and their 1969 Dodge “Super Bee”. Alice always had a welcoming smile to share and never met a stranger. She will be missed by all who knew her.

Family and friends are invited to gather at Mothe Funeral Home, 2100 Westbank Expressway, Harvey, LA on Friday, April 10, 2026 from 10 AM to 1:30 PM. A Funeral Mass will follow in the funeral home chapel. Interment Westlawn Memorial Park in Gretna.
