Abner Joseph Haydel, Jr.

Abner Joseph Haydel, Jr. passed away peacefully, on August 9, 2026 at the age of 99 years. Beloved husband of the late Rita Thibodeaux Haydel. Son of the late Abner Joseph Haydel, Sr. and Amy Brou Haydel. Brother of the late Earl, Melvin, and Lloyd Haydel. Also survived by other loving relatives and friends.

Abner was a native of Edgard, Louisiana, lived in San Dimas, California for over 50 years, before moving back to the Westbank 10 years ago. He served his country in the U.S. Navy and spent his career as an accountant for McDonnell Douglas / Boeing. He will be sadly missed.

A gathering of family and friends will take place at Mothe Funeral Home, 7040 Lapalco Boulevard, Marrero, Louisiana on Wednesday, August 12, 2026 from 9:30 AM to 11 AM. A Service of the Word will follow. Interment with Naval Honors will take place at Westlawn Memorial Park, Gretna.
