William David Swiler

William David Swiler, 69, a native and resident of Gretna, LA passed away at his home on Friday, June 1, 2018. Beloved husband and best friend for 42 years to Deborah Lemonier Swiler. Beloved father of Juliette Swiler. Son of the late James W. Swiler, Sr. and Mary Gladys Powers Swiler. Brother of the late Deacon James W. Swiler, Jr. (Survived by Bonnie). William is also survived by many nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends. Bill was always devoted to his Catholic Faith as a dedicated lifelong parishioner of St. Joseph Catholic Church and Shrine in Gretna, LA. He retired in 2003 after 30 years with the Food and Drug Program of the Office of Public Health State of LA. After retirement, Bill worked as a consultant for the LA Restaurant Association. In lieu of flowers, please consider donations to St. Joseph Church Restoration Fund, 610 6th Street, Gretna, LA in memory of William. Family and friends are invited to attend the memorial visitation at St. Joseph Catholic Church and Shrine, 610 6th Street, Gretna, LA on Monday, June 11, 2018 from 8:30AM until 10AM. A Memorial Mass will be held at St. Joseph Catholic Church and Shrine on Monday at 10AM. Memorial Interment will be held at Westlawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Gretna, LA.
